- ALSC Special Collections in Children's Literature Wikiography
Created by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), this wikiography (an editable bibliography) features an annotated listing of notable children’s literature collections around the United States and Canada. These collections are selected as being of particular use to scholarly researchers studying children and children's literature, and represent hundreds of years of children's literary history. Entries are arranged alphabetically by collection name, and include the location of the collection, date and author of posting, and a brief description. Users will find the format to be similar to Wikipedia.
- The Center for Children's Books
The Center for Children's Books is committed to promoting quality literature for youth in the school and public library, in the classroom, and at home. Located in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science building, the Center for Children's Books is an invaluable resource for locating children's literature materials on the University of Illinois campus. The Center maintains a non-circulating collection of more than 14,000 trade books for children and more than 1,000 professional and reference works, which provide history and criticism of children's literature. Most of the books in the Center's Collection have been reviewed in their affiliate publication, The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books.
- Children's Books Online: the Rosetta Project
The Rosetta Project, sponsored by Children's Books Online, is a digital collection of illustrated antique children's books that were published in the 19th and early 20th century. The site offers versions of its collection translated into multiple world languages.
- CHILDE: Children's Historical Literature Disseminated throughout Europe
CHILDE is a project, funded under the European Commission's Culture 2000 programme, that uses web technology to allow wider and more open access to images from collections of early children's books in Europe.
- Children's Literature in the National Art Library
This collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London contains more than 6,500 books dating from the sixteenth century to the present day. The collection is designed to show the development of children's book production and illustration.
- Children's Picture Book Database
The Children's Picture Book Database at Miami University is a bibliography for designing literature-based thematic units searchable by topics, concepts and skills. Includes 5,000 picture books for children, preschool to grade three.
- Cotsen Children's Library
The Cotsen Children's Library is a historical collection of 23,000 illustrated children's materials at Princeton University. Included are early editions of Perrault's fairy tales, Newbery family imprints, moveable and novelty books, children's songbooks, Soviet Constructivist picture books, and a rich array of other printed books dating from the 16th to 20th centuries.
- de Grummond Children's Literature Collection
The strengths of the University of Southern Mississippi's leading research collection for children's literature include historical and contemporary works by British and American authors and illustrators. The collection also contains many original manuscripts and illustrations.
- International Children's Digital Library
The International Children's Digital library is an online collection of children's picture books from around the world. Currently representative of 27 cultures and 15 languages, this University of Maryland project aspires to broaden international access for children through its colorful and functional collection of digital books. Books can be searched by category or geographical location and several viewing options are available.
- Internet Archive Children's Library
Provides access to books that are appropriate for children ages 3-13. The digital collection includes over 400 titles from the University of Florida's "Literature for Children" Collection, all of the books from the International Children's Digital Library (ICDL), and books from other libraries. Supports keyword searching and browsing by title and by author. The digitized books are in various formats such as PDF and TXT, and some formats may require the installation of free software. Registered users can post comments and book reviews.
- Literature for Children
Literature for Children is a digital collection of children's literature published largely in the United States and Great Britain from before 1850 to beyond 1950. At the core of this Collection are books from the Baldwin Library of Historical Children's Literature, at the University of Florida. Books from Florida Atlantic University, Florida State University, and the University of South Florida join volumes from the Baldwin Library to complete the Collection.
- Prange Digital Children’s Book Collection
The Gordon W. Prange Children’s Book Collection at the University of Maryland consists of 8,000 picture books, story books, and comic books produced in Japan from 1945-1949. These unique books document life in postwar Japan and are a rich source of cultural and social history. Currently 200 books have been digitized and more will be added to the online digital collection. Only cover images and basic bibliographic information is available in both English and Japanese.
